Welcome to the information site for the Athens Karate School located approximately 3 miles south of Athens, Texas.  We offer classes in Shorinryu Kenshin-Kan Karate-do, the traditional Okinawan martial art of Grandmaster Fusei Kise of Okinawa, Japan.  We maintain an active affiliation with Master Kise and through his federation, the Okinawa Shorinryu Matsumura Seito Karate and Kobudo Federation and the All Okinawa Shorinryu Karate and Kobudo Federation. 

The chief instructor of the Athens Karate School is Mr. John Shipes, Shihan, Nanadan who is one of three United States Directors of Master Kise’s organization, along with Mr. Greg Lazarus, Shihan, Nanadan of Dover, New Hampshire and Mr. Jeff Ader, Shihan, Nanadan of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
